Getting started

  1. Open Colory Cam and grant camera permission when prompted.
  2. Point the camera at the object whose color you want to identify.
  3. Tap the exact spot you want to get the color from.
  4. The detected color appears on screen along with its HEX code.
  5. Tap the Save button to add it to your palette.

Identifying colors from a photo

In addition to the live camera, you can pull colors from photos you already have:

  1. Tap the gallery icon on the capture screen.
  2. Select the photo you want to extract colors from.
  3. Tap any point on the image to read that color.
  4. Save the colors you’re interested in to your palette.

You can zoom into the image to select points more precisely.

Your color palette

Every color you save is stored in the Palette tab.

  • View details: tap any color to see its HEX, RGB, HSL, and CMYK codes.
  • Copy a code: on the detail screen, tap the format you need to copy it to your clipboard.
  • Add a note: on the detail screen you can write a note to remember where you found that color or what you want to use it for.
  • Delete a color: press and hold the color in your Palette and confirm the deletion.
  • Sort: you can sort your palette by capture date or by hue.

Tips for better results

  • Use natural light or uniform white light whenever possible.
  • Avoid shadows, reflections, and glare on the surface you’re measuring.
  • Move the camera close enough for the color to fill the central reading area.
  • Clean your camera lens if results look dull or hazy.
  • On textured or patterned surfaces, tap several times at different points to compare.

Troubleshooting

The camera shows a black screen. Check that Colory Cam has camera permission. On iOS: Settings › Privacy & Security › Camera. On Android: Settings › Apps › Colory Cam › Permissions. If the permission is enabled, close the app completely and reopen it.

I can’t open my photo gallery. Check that the app has permission to access your photos in your device settings. If you denied the permission permanently, you’ll need to enable it manually from system settings.

My saved colors are missing. Your palette is stored only on your device. If you reinstalled the app or restored your device from scratch, the previous palette can’t be recovered.

My purchase isn’t showing up. Go to Settings inside the app and tap “Restore purchase”. Make sure you’re signed in with the same account (Apple ID on iOS, Google account on Android) you used to buy.

I still see ads after buying premium. Try restoring your purchase from Settings. If the problem persists, contact us at the support email.

Privacy

Colory Cam processes all colors locally on your device. Your photos, the colors you save, and the notes you write stay only on your phone and are never sent to any server.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the app work without an internet connection?

Yes. Colory Cam processes everything directly on your device, so you can identify and save colors offline. Internet is only required to restore a purchase or to show ads in the free version.

Why does the app request camera access?

Camera access is required to read the color you're pointing at. Images are analyzed on the spot and are never saved or sent to any server.

Why does the app request access to my photos?

Only if you choose to identify colors from a photo in your gallery. The photo is analyzed locally on your device and is never uploaded to any server. If you don't use this feature, you can deny the permission and continue using the camera normally.

What color formats does the app show?

Every identified color includes its HEX, RGB, HSL, and CMYK values. You can copy any of them with a single tap from the color detail screen.

What does the premium version include?

The purchase unlocks all features and permanently removes ads. It's a one-time payment, not a subscription.

I bought premium and switched devices. How do I get it back?

Open the app, go to Settings, and tap 'Restore purchase'. You must use the same Apple ID (on iOS) or Google account (on Android) you used for the original purchase.

I bought premium on an iOS device. Does it work on Android too?

No. Purchases are tied to the platform where they were made, as Apple and Google use independent billing systems. A purchase made on iOS does not transfer to Android or vice versa.

The color it identifies doesn't look accurate. What can I do?

Accuracy depends heavily on lighting. Try natural light or uniform white light, avoid shadows and reflections on the surface, and move the camera close enough for the color to fill the reading area. Keep in mind that Colory Cam is a reference and approximation tool, not a certified professional colorimeter.

Can I edit or delete a saved color?

Yes. From the Palette screen, press and hold a color to delete it. To edit a color's note, open it from the Palette and edit the note on its detail screen.

Can I share a color with someone else?

Yes. Open the color from your Palette and use the share option to send it along with its color codes.

Are the photos I use to identify colors saved?

No. The app only saves the value of the color you selected, not the photograph. Neither camera images nor gallery photos are stored or sent to any server.

How do I request a refund for a purchase?

Purchases are processed through the corresponding store. On iOS, request the refund at reportaproblem.apple.com with your Apple ID. On Android, through support.google.com/googleplay.
